The Burnt Hills, N.Y. native put forth an incredible showing in leading the Pride to the national championship. In the three matches of the NCAA Championship, Pelletier posted 34 kills at a .369 clip to go along with 10 digs, nine blocks, and two aces. In the national championship three-set win over Carthage College, Pelletier powered Springfield with 10 kills and seven digs. His success was even more incredible considering he was hospitalized in 2011 by an ulcerative colitis attack that cut short his season and stripped him of 60 pounds.
Pelletier becomes the first Springfield College student-athlete to be featured in SI's "Faces in the Crowd" since Steve Headley was honored in the June 3, 2009 issue. Headley was selected after winning the 100 meter dash at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, his second national title of the season after previously placing first the 55 meter dash at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Quarterback Chris Sharpe, was featured in SI's "Faces" in the January 22, 2007 issue for scoring seven rushing touchdowns in a win over St. John Fisher during the 2006 season.
