BABSON PARK, Mass. – With the threat of severe weather throughout New England this week, the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced a series of schedule changes for its upcoming conference tournaments. The opening rounds of the field hockey, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball championships, originally scheduled for Tuesday, have been postponed until Wednesday, October 31. The men’s soccer first round will still be played on Wednesday as well.
Wellesley College will host Mount Holyoke College in a field hockey first round matchup on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Springfield College will host Clark University at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
In women’s soccer, Wellesley will play at Wheaton College at 2:30 p.m. and Clark visits Babson College for a 2:30 p.m. start.
Both women’s volleyball opening round matches will be played at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. MIT hosts Babson while Coast Guard has a home match with WPI.
The lone men’s soccer first round contest will be between Wheaton and MIT at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The host Beavers will face the winner of the Wheaton/MIT match-up in the first semifinal on Saturday, November 3. Coast Guard and Springfield will follow at 1:30 p.m. The championship game will be held on Sunday, with a berth in the 2012 NCAA Division III tournament on the line.
Semifinals for all NEWMAC tournaments will follow on Saturday with the championships to be decided on Sunday, November 4.
