Port Charlotte, FL --- The WPI Baseball team picked up its second win of the season with a 5-4 win over Muskingum on Monday afternoon before dropping game two, 14-7.

In game one, WPI took a 1-0 advantage in the first inning and never relinquished the lead to take a close 5-4 victory.  Designated hitter Bryan Watkins (Belmont, MA) drew two walks and scored two runs for the Engineers. Mark Dignum (Albany, NY) smacked a double while Paul Galligan (Weymouth, MA), Scott McNee (Falmouth, MA), Ethan Brown (Lunenburg, MA), Scott MacDonald (Gorham, ME) all contributed singles.  McNee and Brown each knocked in two runs in the victory.

In the nightcap the Engineers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on doubles from Ryan Rainone (Oakville, CT), Mike Swanton (Foxboro, MA) and McNee.  Muskingum came roaring back to take a 6-3 lead in the second inning and silenced the WPI bats until the top of the fourth when the Crimson and Gray erupted for four runs and a 7-6 lead.  Brown highlighted the inning with a double to right field and later scored on a Galligan single.  Swanton paced the Engineers with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate with two RBI.

Muskingum responded with four runs of its own in the bottom of the frame and added four more in the sixth to secure the victory.

Sophomore Lyle Miller (Milford, CT) took the loss for the Engineers as he allowed five runs in just one inning of work.  Nolan Murphy (Shrewsbury, MA) threw 2.1 innings in relief and yielded five runs on three hits while Thomas Whiting (Farmington Hills, MI) tossed 2.2 innings, giving up four runs on four hits.
