Babson Park, Mass.-Two New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference student-athletes have been named to the 2008 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America college division basketball team, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). MIT junior Jimmy Bartolotta (Littleton, Colo.) was named to the men's first team while U.S. Coast Guard Academy Senior DeCarol Davis (Woodbridge, Va.) was named to the women's third team.

Bartolotta was the only junior selected to the college division first team. A native of Littleton, Colo., Bartolotta maintains a converted 3.79 grade-point average while majoring in Management Science and Physics. He led the NEWMAC in scoring, averaging a school-record 23.9 points per game this season while moving into fourth place on the MIT all-time scoring list with 1,479. He is a finalist for the Jostens trophy, given to the most outstanding Division III men's and women's basketball players of the year.

Bartolotta started 24 games for the Engineers this season, who finished 3-9 in NEWMAC play and ended their season with a loss to Coast Guard in the first round of the NEWMAC tournament. Bartolotta was also named to the 2006-07 NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team.

Davis, who has started 22 games this season, is ranked first in the senior class of 226 cadets as she carries a 3.96 GPA in Electrical Engineering. She is averaging 7.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game for Coast Guard which set the single-season record for wins with 22 as the team is 22-4 overall while going 11-2 in NEWMAC play. The Bears will take on Springfield in the semifinals of the NEWMAC tournament on Saturday afternoon.

This is Davis' first selection to the Academic All-America team; she has been named to the Academic All-District I team the past two seasons. She was also named the 2007 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Female Sports Scholar of the Year, was a 2007 Rhodes' Scholar finalist, and is on the Coast Guard Academy's Commandant of Cadet's List for Military Excellence and Dean's List.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
