Wheaton Senior Brent DiGiovanna to Appear Live on Hoopsville Radio Program

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's basketball senior Brent DiGiovanna (Hanover, MA/Hanover) will appear live Sunday on the weekly Hoopsville radio program, which highlights Division III basketball, in a segment that will incorporate one fan of each the New England Patriots and New York Giants.

The radio show, which is hosted by Dave McHugh and normally airs at 6:00 p.m., will instead start prior to kickoff of Super Bowl XLII, which will pit the Patriots against the Giants. DiGiovanna's segment is scheduled to begin around 3:30 p.m. The program can be heard on the Internet at http://d3hoops.com/hoopsville/tunein.htm.

Wheaton, which is just two towns over from New England's Gillette Stadium, is one of the closest colleges to the Patriots' home field. DiGiovanna will discuss his basketball team and football allegiances with Baruch College junior Mike Dietz, whose New York City-based institution is in close proximity to East Rutherford, New Jersey, home of Giants Stadium.

DiGiovanna, the lone captain for the 11-6 Lyons, has battled an injury this season while appearing in 13 games, drawing seven starts. He averages 8.4 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 55.7 percent from the floor and canning 85.1 percent of his free throw tries. In 98 career contests, DiGiovanna has recorded 884 points. He is 15th in program history in scoring and is closing in on becoming the 12th Lyon to appear in 100 games.

Now in its fifth season, Hoopsville has grown into a popular destination for coaches, players and fans of Division III basketball. This season, the program has changed to a three-hour format, introduced more regional reports and provided additional interviews with coaches. Due to partnerships with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3hoops.com, the fifth season of Hoopsville has been the only place to hear what is going on around the nation in Division III basketball from opening weekend through the championships and beyond.
