NEWMAC Student-Athletes Garner National and Regional HonorsBABSON PARK, Mass. - A number of men's and women's basketball post-season awards were announced last week and the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) was well represented on the regional as well as the national level. Six different student-athletes received accolades of some sort. Four women, all of whom were First Team All-Conference selections, added to their resumes with regional honors. NEWMAC Player of the Year Corey Finch (Hanover, Pa.) was a Second Team All-New England selection by both the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) and D3hoops.com. Babson first-year Nicole Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.) was named the New England Rookie of the Year by NEWBA and D3hoops and was also named to the Second Team All-Region by both groups. Teammate Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.) was a D3hoops Third Team All-Region pick. Melissa Martinelli (Vero Beach, Fla.) of Coast Guard was tabbed for the First Team All-New England by D3hoops and the Second Team by NEWBA. On the men's side, NEWMAC Player of the Year Jimmy Bartolotta (Littleton, Colo.) of MIT has racked up a number of national and regional awards, including the Jostens Trophy, NABC Player of the Year, and a pair of All-America honors. Coast Guard senior Craig Johnson (Medford, Ore.) earned a Second Team All-New England nod from D3hoops. For more information on NEWBA Awards, click here. |
