  • MIT's Jurko and Springfield's Post Claim Final NEWMAC Weekly Honors
    February 20, 2018
    In a 2-0 week for the Engineers, Jurko averaged a double-double with 19 points and 11.5 assists per game to go along with five rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest. Post anchored a Springfield defensive unit that helped the Pride earn two more conference victories en route to earning the top seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Championship and their first-ever outright regular season NEWMAC title.
  • 2018 NEWMAC Men's Basketball Championship Bracket Released

    WESTWOOD, Mass. – With the conclusion of the 2018 men’s basketball regular season this evening, the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released the bracket for the 2018 NEWMAC Men’s Basketball Championship. The men’s bracket consists of five teams that will compete for the crown which will begin on Wednesday, February 21st with the quarterfinal round.
  • Wheaton's Bruno and Emerson's Fitz Tab NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Bruno led Wheaton to two big NEWMAC wins last week, defeating the conferences top ranked team Springfield at home, followed by a road win at Babson. Fitz made his impact felt on both ends of the floor this week after helping the Lions to a huge overtime victory over Clark.
  • NEWMAC Announces 2017-18 Men's Basketball Academic All-Conference Winners

    WESTWOOD, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) is pleased to announce the 2017-18 NEWMAC Men's Basketball Academic All-Conference Team. The NEWMAC men's basketball student-athletes totaled 24 honorees this year.
  • MIT's Jurko and Springfield's Ross Take Home NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    In a pair of games, Jurko averaged 26.5 points, 7.5 assists and six rebounds while shooting 58.8 percent from the field, 63.6 percent from three (7 for 11) and 85.7 percent from the free throw line. The sophomore averaged 18.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game while shooting 48.4% (15-for-31) from the field.
  • MIT's Jomard and Springfield's Post Take NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    In a 2-0 week, Jomard posted the second triple-double in MIT history and second of his career with a 21-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist showing in a home win over Clark. Post continued to make an impact all over the court as Springfield pushed its winning streak to seven games, it's longest such stretch of success in 13 years.

  • Babson Men's Hoops Set to Take Part in Upcoming Coaches vs. Cancer Events

    BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College head men's basketball coach Stephen Brennan announced that his team will participate in a pair of Coaches vs. Cancer events in conjunction with the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) over the coming weeks.
  • Wheaton's Fogarty and Springfield's Ross Headline NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Despite dropping one game this week, by a single point, Fogarty ended the week with zero turnovers in his 76 minutes of play, while averaging 25.5 points per game, seven boards and four assists while shooting 64.3% from the field and 46.2% from beyond the arc. Ross helped Springfield to a pair of NEWMAC wins last week as the Pride pushed its winning streak to five games.
  • WPI's Rodgers and Springfield's Ross Garner NEWMAC Weekly Nod

    Rodgers paced the Engineers with an average of 18.5 points and eight rebounds, as well as 11 assists and four steals in a 2-0 week. He also clicked for 83.3 percent (10-of-12) free throw shooting at Wheaton. Ross averaged 16.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game as Springfield went 2-0 on the week, winning a pair of conference games by an average of 29 points.
  • Springfield College Athletics and Division of Inclusion and Community Engagement Prepare to Host Local Elementary School Students

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -  Springfield College Athletics and the Division of Inclusion and Community Engagement will host more 300 students representing three Springfield elementary schools during the Pride's men's basketball game on Wednesday, Jan. 10, starting at noon at Blake Arena. Students from Lincoln Elementary School, Elias Brookings Elementary School, and William N. DeBerry Elementary School will have an opportunity to learn while watching a collegiate basketball game.
  • MIT's Korb, Babson's Jaworski and Emerson's Gray Earn NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    In a 2-0 week for the No. 15 ranked Engineers, Korb led the team with 22.5 points per game while shooting 61.9 percent from the field and 57.9 percent from three (11-for-19). Jaworski averaged 22.0 points and shot 60.9 percent (14-of-23) from the floor and 60 percent (9-of-15) from beyond the arc in a pair of NEWMAC victories for Babson. Gray started off Emerson's NEWMAC schedule with two strong performances, leading the Lions to two wins against Coast Guard and Clark. The junior averaged 20 points, 13.5 rebounds and six assists.
  • Springfield's Ross and Post Sweep NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    Ross led Springfield to the Hampton Inn West Springfield/Naismith Classic title over the weekend with wins over Thomas and 12th-ranked Wesleyan and was named MVP of the Classic. Post earned All-Tournament Team honors in helping Springfield College win the Hampton Inn West Springfield/Naismith Classic over the weekend.
  • MIT's Jomard Takes Home Final NEWMAC Weekly Honor of 2017
    December 18, 2017
    In the team's lone game of the week, Jomard led the Engineers past UMass Dartmouth with a 26-point outing that included nine assists, four rebounds, two blocks and one steal. With the game tied at the half, Jomard was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and 8-for-8 at the free throw half in the second half alone as MIT won its seventh straight game in the 88-68 victory.
  • MIT's Korb and Clark's Gayman Garner NEWMAC Athletes of the Week
    December 11, 2017
    In a 3-0 week for the Engineers, Korb led the Engineers with 24.3 points per game while shooting 60 percent from the field (21-for-35) and 60 percent from three (18-for-30). Clark rookie, Biko Gayman has an impressive week for the Cougars boasting 23.5 points, 5.0 assists and 4.5 steals per game as they split their two games on the week.
  • Springfield's Ross and Coast Guard's Kane Named NEWMAC Athletes of the Week

    Ross continued to shine as he led Springfield to a pair of victories to push Springfield's record to 4-0 on the season and remain the only team in the conference without a setback. Justin averaged a double-double with 16.5 points and 10 rebounds per game as Coast Guard won both games including an 84-69 win over rival Conn. College to snap a 10-game losing streak against the Camels. Justin had 15 defensive rebounds, three blocks and four steals in the two wins. 
  • Babson's Jacks and Springfield's Post, Ross Tab NEWMAC Weekly Honors
    November 27, 2017
    Jacks averaged 24.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks while shooting 70.4 percent from the floor in a 1-1 week for Babson. Post put together a special showing on Tuesday to help Springfield topple a Keene State team that reached the NCAA Sweet 16 a season ago. Ross propelled Springfield to a win over Keene State for the first time since 2013 with an incredible all-around effort last Tuesday.
  • Emerson's Gray, Springfield's Ross and MIT's Jomard Earn First Weekly Honors
    November 20, 2017
    Lions junior Geoffrey Gray made program history on Saturday becoming the first player in Emerson Men's Basketball history to record a triple-double. Ross, who was named a D3hoops.com Preseason All-America, had a dominant first game for Springfield as the Pride cruised past Western New England, 88-70. In a pair of lopsided home wins to open the regular season, Jomard averaged 17 points on 66.7 percent shooting.
  • NEWMAC Reveals 2017-18 Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll

    WESTWOOD, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) revealed the annual Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday morning. After an impressive 2016-17 season claiming the NEWMAC crown and advancing to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, MIT has been tabbed as the preseason favorites with six first place votes.
