Emerson's Gray, Springfield's Ross and MIT's Jomard Earn First Weekly Honors

NEWMAC Men's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week

Geoffrey Gray, Emerson (Jr, Newton, Mass.)

Lions junior Geoffrey Gray made program history on Saturday becoming the first player in Emerson Men's Basketball history to record a triple-double. In playing a full 40 minutes, Gray scored 29 points, adding 10 assists, and 10 rebounds in the Lions 99-83 victory over Newbury College. Following the opening weekend of the basketball season, Gray leads the NEWMAC in PPG with 29.0, APG with 10.0, and is second in RPG at 10.0.

NEWMAC Men's Basketball Co-Defensive Athlete of the Week

Jake Ross, Springfield (so, Northampton, Mass.)

Ross, who was named a D3hoops.com Preseason All-America, had a dominant first game for Springfield as the Pride cruised past Western New England, 88-70. The sophomore posted a double double with 26 points and 13 rebounds to go along with three assists, three steals, and a pair of blocks in 30 minutes of action as he connected on 11-of-18 shots from the field.

NEWMAC Men's Basketball Co-Defensive Athlete of the Week

Bradley Jomard, MIT (Jr, Paris, France)

In a pair of lopsided home wins to open the regular season, Jomard averaged 17 points on 66.7 percent shooting from the field to go along with five rebounds and six assists per contest. He was also active defensively with six steals and two blocks in the two games as the Engineers allowed just 51 points per contest.
