WESTWOOD, Mass. – With the conclusion of the 2018 men's basketball regular season this evening, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released the bracket for the 2018 NEWMAC Men's Basketball Championship. The men's bracket consists of five teams that will compete for the crown which will begin on Wednesday, February 21st with the quarterfinal round.
Clinching the conference regular season title with a 12-2 record in league play, Springfield has earned the No. 1 seed gaining a bye in the opening round and hosting rights for the semifinal and final rounds. Joining the Pride with first round byes are No. 2 Babson (10-4) and No. 3 MIT (10-4), NEWMAC tiebreaking procedures were used to determine the seeds between the Beavers and Engineers. The pair will battle in the second semifinal on Saturday, February 24th. The winner of the quarterfinal between No. 4 WPI (8-6) and No. 5 Wheaton (8-6) will take on Springfield in the first semifinal. WPI defeated Wheaton head to head in both regular season meetings to earn the No. 4 seed.
Semifinal winners will square off in the final game on Sunday, February 25th at Springfield.
