NEWMAC Men's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week
AJ Jurko, MIT (Jr, Weston, Fla.)
In a 2-0 week for the Engineers, Jurko averaged a double-double with 19 points and 11.5 assists per game to go along with five rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest. He shot 70% from the field (14-20), 75% from long range (6-8) and tied the MIT single-game record for assists in a road win at Clark with 14. He also posted a team-high 24 points in a home win over WPI as he finished 8-for-11 shooting for the game.
NEWMAC Men's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week
Heath Post, Springfield (So, Cheshire, Conn.)
Post anchored a Springfield defensive unit that helped the Pride earn two more conference victories en route to earning the top seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Championship and their first-ever outright regular season NEWMAC title. The sophomore averaged 20.0 points per game, shooting nearly 79% from the field to go along with 10.5 rebounds per game. At WPI on Wednesday, Post totaled 22 points and 7 rebounds before turning in an 18-point, 14-rebound performance versus Babson as the Pride locked up hosting rights for the conference tournament.
