AUSTIN, Texas - MIT junior forward Tim Roberts (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) has been named as a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division III Second Team Academic All-America selection. This is the first career Academic All-America honor for Roberts as he is the 12th all-time selection for MIT men's basketball and the first since the 2012-13 season.

A civil and environmental engineering major and a Chinese minor with a 4.9 GPA on MIT's 5.0 scale, Roberts started all 31 games as the Engineers advanced all the way the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Averaging 8.7 points per game with a league-leading 64.6 field goal percentage, Roberts registered four straight double-doubles to lead the Engineers in their four NCAA Tournament games. Highlighting that run was a 13-point, 17-rebound outing in the Sweet 16 win over Middlebury as that marked his career high for rebounds. Roberts also averaged 7.5 rebounds per contest with 42 assists, 24 steals and 10 blocks.

Roberts has worked as an energy department intern for the South Mountain Company, which is an engineering and design company focused on efficient building methods that is responsible for more than half of the local solar installations on Martha's Vineyard. In his role there, Roberts has analyzed residential electricity consumption patterns to find a typical load profile, while also creating a model to output electricity profiles based on house type and size.
