NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week
Jared Brush, Emerson (Jr, Gross Pointe Park, Mich.)
Jared Brush started his junior season in style, scoring eight goals and assisting on three more in his first two games of the year. Brush scored five goals in a double overtime victory against Mount Ida on Wednesday, adding two assists. He had ten shots and put seven on goal. Against Lyndon St. Brush picked up where he left off, scoring three goals and adding one assist. Brush had a 72.7 shot on goal percentage, putting 16 of his 22 shots in net for the week. He also picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers.
NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week
Mike McCaslin, Coast Guard (Jr, Stevensville, Md.)
Junior Mike McCaslin led Coast Guard's defense to two dominating performances to open the 2018 season. McCaslin tallied seven caused turnovers through the first two games with four in a 15-7 win over Eastern Conn. and then three more in Coast Guard's 17-1 dismantling of Norwich. The junior helped a defensive unit that held their opponents to just 18 shots on goal in two games. The one goal allowed in the victory over the Cadets is the fewest allowed in program history. McCaslin leads the conference with seven caused turnovers on the season.
