MIT's Santoro and Clark's Philbin Named Men's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week

NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week

James Santoro, MIT (Fy., A – Tewksbury, N.J.)

In a 2-0 week for MIT, Santoro tallied 10 points on nine assists and one goal, to go along with three caused turnovers and three groundballs. He dished out six assists (one shy of tying the MIT record) and added a goal in the Engineers' 12-5 victory over Johnson & Wales on Wednesday. Santoro then produced three assists, two groundballs, and two caused turnovers in a 15-7 win at Massachusetts Maritime on Saturday.

NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week

Bobby Philbin, Clark (Jr., M – Ridgefield, Conn.)

In a 2-0 week for the Cougars, Philbin was an offensive force with six points from five goals and an assist. He started the week with four goals in a 12-10 conference victory at Mass Maritime before adding a goal and an assist in Clark's 17-3 victory over Emerson on Saturday. Philbin dominated in face-offs winning 21-of-24 over the two games and picked up 15 ground balls. The junior is now third overall in the NEWMAC in face-offs, 127-162.
