Nov 5, 2006 Wheaton Captures 2006 NEWMAC Men's Soccer ChampionshipNORTON, Mass.-- Junior Trevor Cote's goal in the 13th
minute of action proved to be the only marker that top-seeded
Wheaton would need to post a 1-0 victory over second-seeded Babson
in the 2006 NEWMAC Men's Soccer Championship match Sunday
afternoon.
The Lyons (12-4-4) presented 13th-year Head Coach Matt Cushing
with his 200th victory with the triumph and claimed the NEWMAC
automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championships.
Senior Matt Pachniuk picked up the shutout win in goal for
Wheaton with four saves, while junior Chris Necklas faced only one
shot on goal for the Beavers, who falls to 12-6-3 overall with the
setback.
