NEWMAC Announces 2008 Men's Soccer Post-season Award Winners
BABSON PARK, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic
Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2008 Men's Soccer post-season
award winners on Tuesday and NEWMAC regular season and tournament
champions, Babson, led the way with five All-Conference selections,
including NEWMAC Athlete of the Year, Tim Winn
(Sutton, Mass.). MIT freshman Zachary Kabelac
(Potomac, Md.) was named the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year. Clark Coach
David Kulik earned NEWMAC Coach of the Year
honors. WPI received the league's Sportsmanship Award.
Teammates Brendan McNamara
(Exeter, N.H.) and Harrison
Heller (Fort Wayne, Ind.) joined Winn on the first
team All-Conference. NEWMAC runner-up, MIT, also placed three
student-athletes on the first team. In additional to Kabelac,
Christian Therkelsen (Nesbru,
Norway) and Nithin Perumbeti
(Norcross, Ga.) were first team selections. Clark goalkeeper
Peter Wise (Providence, R.I.),
David O'Brien (Seminole, Fla.) of
Coast Guard, John Plourd
(Southampton, Mass.) from Springfield and Wheaton sophomores
Josh Solomon (Acton, Mass.) and
David Ferriero (Medway, Mass.)
rounded out the first team.
