Babson Park, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic
Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2007 Men's Soccer Post-season
awards on Tuesday. Babson Junior Forward Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.)
was named NEWMAC Player of the Year for the second consecutive
season, while Wheaton Freshman Kyle Sye (Acton, Mass.) was named
the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year. Coast Guard Coach Chris Parsons was
honored by his peers as the NEWMAC Coach of the Year and WPI
received the conference's annual Sportsmanship Award.
Joining Winn on the First Team All-Conference are Babson
teammates Chris Schwartz and Chris Necklas, Clark's Lino Goncalves
and Marc Labbe, Coast Guard's David O'Brien and Martin Villa, MIT's
Christian Therkelsen, Springfield's Adrian Schippers, as well as
Trevor Cote and Jim Ferriero from NEWMAC Regular season and
Tournament Champion Wheaton College.
Sye was named to the Second Team All-Conference along with
Johnny Hakala and Kevin Owens from Babson, Clark's Peter Wise,
Coast Guard's Peter Deneen and James Toohey, Nitin Perumbeti of
MIT, Springfield's Tony Distasio, John Plourd and Michael
Kilmartin, and Ben Gilde of WPI.
