Sam Ubellacker, MIT (Jr. - Georgetown, Ky.)
MIT junior Sam Ubellacker had an excellent performance at the annual MIT Winter Invitational over the weekend. In his six events, he won four and placed second in two. Ubellacker also tallied a total of nine NCAA 'B' cut times, set one pool record and guided the Engineers to the Winter Invite team title with 2012 points. He began the meet with a win in the 200 free relay as the anchor leg with a time of 1:20.87, which sits at third fastest in Division III and then placed second in the 50 free in 19.93. His prelim swim in the 50 free (19.88) is second in the nation. Additionally, Ubellacker won with the 400 medley relay (3:17:35), which is sixth fastest in Division III, set the pool record and won the 200 medley relay (1:29.27), which is third fastest in Division III, placed second in the 100 fly and won the 400 free relay in 3:00.95, which is fifth in the country. In a time trial, Ubellacker swam a 100 free time of 44.26 which ranks third in Division III.
