The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference

Babson Park, Mass. - The New England Women and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2008 Men's Tennis Post-season awards on Tuesday. NEWMAC champions MIT swept the individual awards, with senior Eric Beren (Dallas, Texas) being named Player of the Year, Kevin Pang (Torrance, Calif.) taking home the Rookie of the Year award and coach Dave Hagymas being named Coach of the Year. Coast Guard earned the NEWMAC Sportsmanship award.

Beren and Pang earned First team All-Conference nods at the No. 1 and No. 3 singles spots respectively. They helped MIT capture all of the First team All-Conference Singles slots. Joining Beren and Pang on the First team All-Conference were teammates Ken Van Tilburg (Kapellen, Belgium) at No. 2 Singles, Peden Nichols (Great Falls, Va.) at No. 4 Singles, Jonathan Farm (Honolulu, Hawaii) at No. 5 Singles and Ryan Castonia (Whitehall, Mich.) at No. 6 Singles. The First team was rounded out by Alex Kamergorodsky (Millis, Mass.) and Brian Lafayette (Burlington, Vt.) of Babson at No. 1 Doubles, Rahul Bala (Enfield, Conn.) and Trevor Romanzi (Bayshore, N.Y.) of Springfield at No. 2 Doubles and Nichols and Farm at No. 3 Doubles.

The Second team All-Conference was made up of Kamergorodsky at No. 1 Singles, Chris Pappe (Kenosha, Wisc.) of Coast Guard at No. 2 Singles, Kyle Hudgins (Uxbridge, Mass.) of Wheaton at No. 3 Singles, Romanzi at No. 4 Singles, Austin Conti (Murray Hill, N.J.) of Babson at No. 5 Singles and Edwin Lee (Mukilteo, Wash.) of Babson at No. 6 Singles. Beren and Van Tilburg earned second team honors at No. 1 Doubles, Pang and David Iba (Lexington, Mass.) of MIT were second team at No. 2 Doubles and Bobby Schlink (Quaker Hill, Conn.) and Tim Tunis (Sudbury, Mass.) of Springfield completed the second team at No. 3 Doubles.
