Coast Guard Sophomore Carl Luxhoj Named NEWMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

NEWMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week 

Carl Luxhoj, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, 2011 (Somerset, N.J.)

Luxhoj took first place and set new school records in both the long jump and the triple jump as Coast Guard won the 14-team Silfen Invitational. His triple jump was won with a leap of 48 feet 9 inches. The previous record of 48 feet 1.75 inches was held by Bruce Platz which was set in 1970. In addition to the school record, his mark is an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championships. He is currently ranked 2nd in the country in the triple jump and he also broke his own school record in the long jump with a jump of 23 feet 1.75 inches.
