Multiple NEWMAC Student-Athletes and Teams Honored by USTFCCCA

Babson Park, Mass.-The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced today that 16 NEWMAC individual student-athletes and 8 NEWMAC cross country teams have been honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

To qualify for the USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic team, individual student-athletes must carry a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, as well as finish in the top 25 percent of the field at their respective NCAA regional meet. For teams to qualify, they must have compiled a team score at their NCAA regional event and carry a cumulative 3.10 grade point average.

MIT had the most honorees of any NEWMAC school, with four men's runners and three women's runners named to the team. In addition, both the men's and women's teams were honored. The men carried the highest overall team GPA in Division III, with a cumulative 3.68, while the women had the third highest team GPA, also with a 3.68. The individuals from MIT honored were Hemagiri Arumugam (Hagerstown, Md.), Yermie Cohen (Los Angeles, Calif.), Joe Roy - Mayhew (Portland, Maine), Jake Ruzevick (Coronado, Calif.), Jennifer Doyle (Oakland, Calif.), Elizabeth Finn (Winnetka, Ill.), and Maria Monks (Hazleton, Pa.).

The additional NEWMAC individuals honored were Meghan Lynch (South Hadley, Mass.) and Catherine Riffin (Weston, Mass.) of Mount Holyoke, Alison Cloutier (East Hampton, Conn.), Anna Cressotti (Southampton, Mass.) and Nora Youngs (Penacook, N.H.) of Smith, Brian Fuller (Ludlow, Mass.) and Michael Griffin (Scarborough, Maine) of Springfield and Kerry Shanley (Marshfield, Mass.) and Jessica Weng (Paramus, N.J.) of Wellesley.

The other NEWMAC teams honored were the Babson women's team, Mount Holyoke, Smith, the Springfield women's team, Wellesley, and the Wheaton women's team.
