Aug 1, 2006 Perrelli Named Softball Coach at Smith College Northampton, MA: Director of Athletics, Lynn Oberbillig,
announced today that Julie Perrelli has been appointed softball
coach at Smith College. A 2001 graduate of Western Connecticut
State University, Perrelli has served as a teaching fellow and
assistant softball coach at Springfield College for the past four
years. She replaces Bonnie May who assumed the Assistant Director
of Athletics position at Smith.
Perrelli received a Master of Science Degree in Physical
Education/Athletic Administration from Springfield College in 2004
and is expected to complete a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in
Physical Education in May of 2007. In addition to her coaching
responsibilities at Springfield, she also served as the softball
recruiting coordinator and fundraising director. She also assisted
the Assistant Athletic Director in compliance and eligibility,
taught various activity classes and this past spring taught an
undergraduate course in athletic administration.
She served as the compliance coordinator intern at the
University of Massachusetts in 2003 and was the assistant director
of the Danbury Police Activities League Youth Center in Danbury,
Connecticut from 1999-2002. Perrelli was the assistant field hockey
coach at Ridgefield High School (CT) from 1996-98; assistant
softball coach in 1999 and head field hockey coach at Southern
Connecticut State University in the fall of 1999.
Perrelli is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association and the New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches
Association and has worked as a softball clinician for ten years.
