Springfield, Wellesley Earn Bids to NCAA Division III Softball Championship

Babson Park, Mass.-The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) softball tournament champions, Springfield College, will be joined by tournament runner-up, Wellesley College, as both teams earned bids into the 2008 NCAA Division III Softball Championship. The tournament begins Thursday, May 8 on the campuses of host institutions. 

Springfield, which had to win five consecutive games to capture the NEWMAC tournament championship and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, will travel to Plattsburgh, N.Y. to take on St. John Fisher College at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8.

Wellesley finished the regular season with a record of 27-9-1 and earned an at-large bid into the 59-team tournament field. The Blue will face Lesley University at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8 in Providence, R.I.
