NEWMAC Student-Athletes Named to NFCA All-Region Teams
BABSON PARK, Mass. - The National Fastpitch Coaches' Association
(NFCA) announced its 2009 Division III All-Region teams on Monday
and 14 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)
student-athletes were named to the All-New England Region teams,
including five on the First Team.
NEWMAC regular season champions, Coast Guard, had the most
selections of any team in the conference, with five. NEWMAC Pitcher
of the Year Hayley Feindel (Chatham, Mass.) was a
First Team pick. Teammates Amanda Frederick (River
Ridge, La.), Courtney Wolf (Fredericksburg, Md.)
and Annette Boston (Oceanside, Calif.) were named
to the Second Team while Jeannie
Crump (Roseville, Calif.) was an At-Large Third
Team honoree.
The other First Team selections were NEWMAC Player of the Year
Michelle Wlosek (Nutley, N.J.) of
Springfield, Clark's Lauren Blake
(Oakland, Maine), Megan Wood
(Jacksonville, Fla.) from Wellesley and Wheaton's
Stacey Kelleher (Brockton,
Mass.).
Wellesley picked up three more All-New England spots, as
Alison Davis (Glen Ellyn, Ill.)
was named to the Second Team and Barbarajean
Grundlock (Blackwood, N.J.) and
Alex Warren (Delta, BC) were
Third Team picks. In addition to Wlosek, Springfield's
Aimee Cassella (Southington,
Conn.) and Angela Atkins (East
Haddam, Conn.) were tabbed to Second and Third Teams, respectively.
