  • WPI's Gurska and Shevchuk Lauded as CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team Selections

    WORCESTER, Mass. - Seniors Lindsay Gurska (Revere, MA) and Hope Shevchuk (Burlington, CT) have the distinction of being named Academic All-America first team members, as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is the first time in school history there have been two first teamers from the same team.

    WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—Junior Ali Reilly (New Canaan, Conn.) tossed a three-hit shutout in game two, but visiting Babson College saw its NCAA Tournament run come to an end when 19th-ranked Williams College rallied for six runs in the sixth inning of game three to win the Williamstown Super Regional series, 2-1.

    WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—No. 19 Williams College scored three first-inning runs and homered three times on its way to defeating visiting Babson College, 6-2, in game one of an NCAA Tournament Super Regional series on Friday afternoon at Cole Field.
  • Babson Takes Two From Rowan to Win Babson Park Regional

    BABSON PARK, Mass.—Sophomore Annie Quine (Santa Monica, Calif.) hit a go-ahead grand slam in a game six win and senior Leslie Moore (Atkinson, N.H.) gave Babson College the lead with a two-run homer in a winner-take-all game seven as the Beavers defeated Rowan University twice to claim the Babson Park Regional crown on Monday at Alumni Field. Babson staved off elimination with a 7-4 win and then edged the Profs 3-2 to advance to next weekend's NCAA Tournament Super Regionals.

  • Babson and Springfield Earn Hosting Rights for NCAA Softball Regionals

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. —The NCAA Division III Softball Committee has announced the 62 teams that will compete in the Division III Softball Championship on Monday afternoon. Claiming the NEWMAC AQ the Babson Beavers are set to host a regional championship while the 2017 Runner-Up, Springfield was selected as an At-Large and will also host a regional final.
  • NEWMAC Announces 2017 Softball Postseason Awards

    BOSTON, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2017 Softball All-Conference selections and major award winners on Monday afternoon. Following an impressive 2017 regular season, reaching No. 1 in the New England Region, Springfield took home Athlete and Pitcher of the Year as Kirsten Drobiak and teammate Talia Loda earned the honors while their coach, Kate Bowen claimed the Coach of the Year nod in her first season with the Pride. After helping the Engineers to a regular season title this season, WPI's Mackenzie Phillips has been tabbed the Rookie of the Year.

    Freshmen Jacqueline Paul (Burlington, NJ) drove in the game-winning run and Brooke Stock (Fort Lauderdale, FL) struck out eight in a complete-game victory as fourth-seeded Babson eliminated host and top-seeded WPI from the 2017 NEWMAC Softball Championship, 1-0 (8 inn.), Thursday evening on Rooftop Field.

    BOSTON, Mass. - The NEWMAC Softball Championship scheduled for this weekend has been moved to Thursday, May 4th at WPI. Game #9 between Babson and WPI will begin at 5:00 p.m. while the winner will play in Game #10 vs. Springfield at 7:00 p.m.

    Wellesley struck twice in the top of the fourth inning and never looked back as the Blue took down Wheaton, 2-1, in the opening day of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship Tournament at Potter Field on Friday afternoon. Led by three RBI from junior infielder Kirsten Drobiak (Griswold, Conn.), and another dominant pitching performance from Talia Loda (East Haven, Conn.), the second-seeded Springfield College softball team defeated sixth-seeded Wellesley, 8-0, in six innings on Friday afternoon at Potter Field.
  • SB: Day 1 at WPI - Babson Takes Two in Opening Rounds at #1 Site

    Sophomore Ashley Tango's (Reading, MA) sacrifice fly in the bottom first proved to be the offensive difference while junior Ali Reilly (New Canaan, CT) spun a two-hit shutout to lead fourth-seeded Babson to a 1-0 victory. Freshman Brooke Stock (Fort Lauderdale, FL) did not allow a hit the first time through the order and struck out three with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth as fourth-seeded Babson upset top-seeded WPI.
  • NEWMAC Announces 2017 Softball Academic All-Conference, 41 Honored

  • Springfield's Drobiak and WPI's Gurska, Arpin Claim NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Kirsten Drobiak, a junior infielder for Springfield College, led the Pride to a 4-1 week. Gurska batted .500 (11-for-22) with two home runs, a double, a walk, a stolen base, seven RBI and four runs scored in a 7-1 week for the Engineers. Arpin did not allow an earned run or an extra base hit and held batters to a .220 average in 13 1/3 innings across six appearances for the Engineers last week.
  • NEWMAC Announces 2017 Softball Championship Bracket

    BOSTON, Mass. – The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the seeds for the 2017 NEWMAC Softball Championship on Sunday evening. Clinching the top seed as well as the regular season title tonight, WPI (14-4) earned hosting rights heading into the first weekend. Also earning hosting rights on Day One is No. 2 Springfield (13-5).
  • Wellesley, MIT and WPI Claim NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    Wellesley senior Kendra Coleman went 10-for-18 at the plate this week, helping the Blue to a 4-2 conference record with three home runs, four doubles and eight RBIs. LeClaire led the Engineers to an undefeated 8-0 week with a .500 batting average with a walk, four doubles, 13 RBI, six runs, a sacrifice fly and a stolen base. MIT sophomore starter Ravenne Nasser went 4-1 in five complete game starts - three of which were shutouts - for the Engineers this week.

    Kirsten Drobiak, a junior infielder for Springfield College, had a standout week for the Pride, which went 4-2 against NEWMAC opponents. Danielle Cimino went 3-0 last week boasting a 1.05 ERA, allowing just three earned runs in 20 innings while hurling 18 strikeouts. Talia Loda, a junior pitcher for Springfield College, had and impressive week for the Pride, as she led the maroon and white to a record of 4-2 against NEWMAC opponents.
  • Springfield's Drobiak, Loda and MIT's Goetz Claim NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Kirsten Drobiak, a junior infielder for Springfield College, had another impressive week for the nationally-ranked Pride, as it picked up four more wins to improve to 15-1 overall. In a 4-0 week for MIT, freshman Devon Goetz batted .545 (6-for-11) to go along with an .818 slugging percentage and a .643 on base percentage. Talia Loda, a junior pitcher for Springfield College, picked up her seventh and eighth win in the circle last week, leading the Pride to four wins over Skidmore and Emerson.
  • Wellesley's Pisac and Babson's Stock Claim NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    An All-Region performer in 2016, Wellesley senior Anna Pisac is off to a blistering hot start in 2017. Stock went 3-1 with a 1.70 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 24.2 innings last week. The first-year pitcher tossed one shutout and a pair of complete games in three starts.
  • Springfield's Loda and Gasdia Sweep NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    Talia Loda, a junior pitcher for Springfield College, was dominant in four starts last week, as she helped lead the Pride to a 9-1 start to the season, its best since the 1996 season. Carianna Gasdia, a junior center fielder for Springfield College, was instrumental in leading the Pride to a 9-1 record on Spring Break in Kissimmee, Fla. to start the season, its best start since 1996.
  • Coast Guard's Everett and McKenna Sweep NEWMAC Awards

    Sophomore Mackenzie Everett helped the Bears to a 7-1 week going 3-1 with a .78 ERA, scattering 11 hits and striking out seven. Freshman Courtney McKenna continued her hot start in Florida helping the Bears to a 7-1 week. She batted .607 with 14 RBI's and 11 runs scored.
  • WPI Claims Top Spot in Preseason Coaches' Poll

    BOSTON, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released the annual Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday morning. After claiming the programs first NEWMAC crown in 2016 the WPI Engineers have been tabbed as the preseason favorites heading into the spring with their seven first place votes.
