Wellesley Junior Amanda Tai Named NEWMAC Softball Player of the Week

NEWMAC Softball Player of the Week

Amanda Tai, Wellesley College, INF, JR (Melrose, Mass.)

Tai went 6-12 (.500) at the plate in a 3-0-1 week for Wellesley. The junior started and played every inning of Wellesley's four games, hitting safely in each of them and racking up four runs, two RBI and two doubles. Against Brandeis, Tai drove in the go-ahead run on an RBI double and later scored an insurance run to lead Wellesley to a 4-2 win. In game two against the Judges', Tai went 2-3 with two runs scored. Against Coast Guard, Tai was 1-2 with an RBI and two walks in a 7-0 game one win. With Wellesley behind 1-0 in game two, she manufactured the tying run for Wellesley reaching on a one-out double, advancing on a ground-out and scoring on a passed ball. Tai was also perfect in the field in for Wellesley, splitting time between second and third base.
