Babson Park, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic
Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2007 Women's Volleyball
Post-season awards on Tuesday. MIT Senior Amanda Morris (Potomac,
Md.) was named NEWMAC Player of the Year after helping lead MIT to
a 34-2 record and the NEWMAC Regular season championship.
Springfield First Year Bethany Stosz (Amherst, Mass.) was named
NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, while also being named to the Second
Team All-Conference. Dorothy Webb of Wellesley was honored by her
peers as NEWMAC Coach of the Year and Mount Holyoke was awarded the
conference's annual Sportsmanship Award.
Joining Morris on the First Team All-Conference are teammate
Katie Rowe, Coast Guard's Nicole Gurr and Corinne McCormack,
Smith's Catherine Shafer, and Tracy Waldman from NEWMAC Tournament
champion Wellesley.
Along with Stosz, the Second Team All-Conference is comprised of
Carrie Buchanan of MIT, Smith's Mikal Minarich, Springfield's
Aylene Ilkson, and Wellesley's Murielle Dawdy and Emily Peters.
