Davis Named to Academic All-District Team

NEW LONDON, CONN.--  Coast Guard junior DeCarol Davis has been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I college division women's basketball first team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Davis, who has started all 22 games this season, is ranked first in the junior class of 237 cadets as she carries a 3.95 GPA in Electrical Engineering. She is averaging 8.8 points, five rebounds and 2.5 assists per game for Coast Guard which is 12-10 overall this season.

Davis, a Rhodes Scholar representative, is on the Commandant of Cadet's List for Military Excellence, the Dean's List and served as Class President as a freshman and sophomore.

While at the Academy, the 2006 Arthur Ashe women's basketball and softball first team Sports Scholar, Davis has won the Commandant's Undergraduate Award, established a recycling program at the Academy as well as written and directed a children's play performed for Engineering Outreach program. 

Davis is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Alpha Lambda Delta .

District I consists of New England, New York, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.

Davis along with the four other District I first team members will now be placed on the national CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. There are eight districts total which means 40 student athletes will be placed on the national ballot.
