NEWMAC Women's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week
Kennedy Guest-Pritchett, Smith (Jr, Fairburn, Ga.)
In a 3-0 week, Guest-Pritchett averaged 18.0 points and 11.3 rebounds and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tyler Tip-Off Tournament. In the Pioneers' season-opening win over Pine Mano, Guest-Pritchett poured in 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting to go along with nine boards. In the opening game of the Tyler Tip-Off Tournament, she racked up 21 points and 11 rebounds as Smith topped Southern Maine, 72-64. In the final game of the weekend, Guest-Pritchett totaled 18 points, 14 rebounds, one steal, and one assist in an 85-64 victory over Bates. Over three game, she shot 59.5 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from the free throw line.
NEWMAC Women's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week
Kara Holinski, MIT (Jr, Livonia, Mich.)
In a 1-1 week for MIT, Kara Holinski averaged 18.5 points on .500 shooting from the floor, including a .357 performance from three-point range, five rebounds, two steals, and 39 minutes en route to Tufts Tip-Off All-Tournament Team honors. She opened the season with a game-high 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting while going 5-of-9 from three-point range in addition to recording six rebounds, two assists, and two steals in a 62-50 win over Regis on Friday. The next day Holinski generated 16 points (8-of-16 shooting), four rebounds, and two steals while playing all 40 minutes in a 70-65 loss to Roger Williams.
