The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference announced its 2007-08 Women's Basketball Academic All-Conference Team on Wednesday.

NEWMAC Announces 2007-08 Women's Basketball All-Conference Team
The NEWMAC announced its 2007-08 Women's Basketball Post-season awards on Tuesday. Coast Guard senior Natalie Moyer was named NEWMAC Player of the year. Rachelle Walker of Springfield was named NEWMAC Rookie of the Year.

Wheaton Senior Becky Aitchison Named NEWMAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Aitchison led Wheaton to its first NEWMAC Tournament title, and initial league crown and NCAA Tournament berth since 1995, by averaging 10.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals while helping the top-seeded Lyons go 3-0 last week.

MIT junior Jimmy Bartolotta (Littleton, Colo.) was named to the men's first team while U.S. Coast Guard Academy Senior DeCarol Davis (Woodbridge, Va.) was named to the women's third team.

Wheaton Sophomore Jenny Champney Named NEWMAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Champney led Wheaton to a 2-0 mark and its first NEWMAC regular season title, which was its first regular season conference crown since 1994-95, by averaging 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocks this week.

Springfield Senior Tara McCarthy Named NEWMAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
The senior guard averaged 19 points per game in a pair of contests this week. She shot 56.5% from the field (13-23), connected on 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and 9-of-11 from the foul line.

Coast Guard Senior DeCarol Davis was named to the women's first team. Jimmy Bartolotta of MIT was named to the men's first team, while teammate Alex Bagley was named to the men's second team.

USCGA Sophomore Melissa Martinelli Named NEWMAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Martinelli averaged 19.3 points and 12 rebounds in a perfect 3-0 week as the Bears won their school-record 17th game of the season and moved into first place in the NEWMAC.

Hickey averaged 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals while shooting 61.5 percent from the field, 83.3 percent from three-point territory and 75.0 percent from the free throw line.

Wellesley Junior Jessica Duff Named NEWMAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Jessica Duff averaged 24 points and 9.5 rebounds to lead Wellesley to a 1-1 week. In a thrilling double-overtime win over Babson, she scored a career-high 23 points and added 13 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Hickey helped Wheaton begin its NEWMAC slate by going 2-0 last week. The junior forward averaged 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 61.1 percent (11-18), including 4-of-5 from three-point range.
