USCGA Sophomore Melissa Martinelli Named NEWMAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

NEWMAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week:

Melissa Martinelli, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, F, SO (Vero Beach, Fla.)

Martinelli averaged 19.3 points and 12 rebounds in a perfect 3-0 week as the Bears won their school-record 17th game of the season and moved into first place in the NEWMAC. She scored 15 of the Bears first 18 points in the second half and finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds in a win over rival Connecticut College to start the week. She then had 21 points and eight rebounds as the Bears beat Wheaton, which had won eight straight conference games.
