Springfield Senior Tara McCarthy Named NEWMAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

NEWMAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week:

McCarthy led Springfield to a 2-0 week as the Pride improved to 13-9, 8-3 in NEWMAC play. The senior guard averaged 19 points per game in a pair of contests this week. She shot 56.5% from the field (13-23), connected on 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and 9-of-11 from the foul line. She also averaged 6.0 rebounds per game to go along with eight assists and four steals. McCarthy tallied 14 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals as the Pride cruised past Mount Holyoke, 74-47, on Wednesday. On Saturday, McCarthy's game-high 24 points moved her into fourth place on the Springfield all-time scoring list. To date, McCarthy has netted 1,316 points. She went 8-of-11 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line as she also added five rebounds and three assists in Springfield's 79-64 win over Clark.
