Wellesley Women's Rowing Receives NEWMAC Coach of the Year and Sportsmanship Awards

Babson Park, Mass.-The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced today that Wellesley head coach Tessa Spillane has been named the 2008 NEWMAC women's rowing Coach of the Year. Spillane's squad captured the Florence Jope Smith Cup at Saturday's NEWMAC Women's Rowing championship. The Florence Cup is awarded to the team that accumulates the most points in the four NEWMAC championship races. In addition, Wellesley received the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award, an award they shared with Coast Guard in 2007.

The 2008 NEWMAC Women's Rowing All-Conference teams were announced at Saturday's Championship regatta.
