A total of 21 programs from around the region participated in the event on Lake Quinsigamond which saw the Lyons varsity eight boat finish 17th overall.
May 4, 2013Crew Competes at New England Rowing ChampionshipsThe Mount Holyoke College crew team competed in the New England Rowing Championships today at Lake Quinsigamond. The Lyons finished in 17th place overall with 22.92 points. Mount Holyoke's varsity eight boat took home second place in the Third Level Final of its division. The Lyons posted a time of 7:27.140, which was good for 14th place overall and 12th amongst NCAA Division III competitors.

The Lyons dominated the action in both races as the first varsity boat and the novice eight boat all claimed victory. It marked the third straight victory for the novice boat, which won twice last weekend at Tufts.

It marks the second time that Steele has received the accolade from conference?s coaches. Steele led the Engineers to a second overall finish last weekend at the NEWMAC Rowing Championships hosted by WPI on Lake Quinsigamond. He joins Chris Bartley of men?s basketball and Paul Bennett of men?s swimming and diving as the third WPI coach this year to garner top-billing from the league.
April 21, 2013Women's Rowing Enjoys Historic Day While Pulling Double DutyWorcester, MA --- After 21 years of never winning a race at the NEWMAC championships, the WPI Women?s Rowing team tasted victory twice in 10 minutes on Sunday, winning the Third Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight en route to a program-best second place overall performance Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond. No to be outdone, the Varsity Eight finished just over two seconds behind three-time champion Wellesley and came back later in the afternoon and defeated Tufts to win its third straight Bernie Brown Cup.
