NEWMAC Student-Athletes and Teams Garner IWLCA Academic Awards

Babson Park, Mass.-Six New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) student-athletes were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Honor Roll last week. In addition, four NEWMAC teams were recognized for their academic excellence. Mount Holyoke, Wellesley and Wheaton earned IWLCA Academic Squad honors, while MIT was named a Merit Squad, having achieved one of the three highest team Grade Point Averages in Division III in this past academic year.

The six student-athletes honored by the IWLCA were Stephanie Brenman (Newton, Mass.), Lily He (Ponte Vedre, Fla.) and Laura Watson (Bethpage, N.Y.) of MIT, Mount Holyoke junior Ava Gottschall (Amherst, Mass.), Wellesley junior Dee Garrahan (Fairfax Station, Va.), as well as Caitlin Grant (Walpole, Mass.) from Wheaton. These six were among 172 Division III players to receive this distinction, which requires student-athletes to have at least junior year academic status and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.20 for the spring semester.
