Kristen Mullady Named Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at Springfield College
Kristen Mullady ‘00, the current President of the
Connecticut High School Girls' Lacrosse Association, and a former
women's lacrosse head coach at Central Connecticut State
University, has been named an assistant professor of physical
education and head women's lacrosse coach at Springfield College,
according to Springfield College Director of Athletics
Cathie Schweitzer. A former standout for
Springfield's women's lacrosse team, Mullady returns to her alma
mater to head up a program that went 12-6 and reached the
conference tournament championship game a year ago.
"We are very pleased to have landed Kristen Mullady as our next
women's lacrosse coach," said Dr. Schweitzer. "She is very
well-connected in New England, especially in Connecticut and
Massachusetts, which should put her in good stead on the recruiting
trail. She is also well-versed in the ways of Springfield College.
We welcome her return."
Mullady, who graduated from Springfield in 2000 with a degree in
physical education, still holds SC's all-time record for points in
a season with 77, and ranks fifth all-time in career points with
162. She recently completed a master's degree in Educational
Leadership from Walden University.
"As an alum and former SC women's lacrosse player, I look
forward to working once again with Springfield College athletes,"
said Mullady. "I am eager to continue the program's successful
tradition, both athletically and academically. We are surrounded by
a wonderful community, and I can't wait to get started."
Mullady re-enters the collegiate coaching ranks after most
recently spending several years coaching high school and youth
lacrosse in Connecticut. In addition to being the girl's lacrosse
coach for Hall High School in West Hartford, Mullady has become a
prominent figure in the Connecticut girl's lacrosse scene. In 2009,
she was named the President of the Connecticut High School Coaches
Association for high school lacrosse and has been the coach of the
U-15 Connecticut Select Team since 2000.
On the college level, Mullady once served as the head coach for
the Central Connecticut State University women's lacrosse program
from 2003-2005.
Since her graduation from Springfield College, Mullady has been
a physical education teacher at the Renbrook School, Conard and
Hall High School, Capital Prep Magnet School, as well as most
recently at Windsor High School.
She also is involved in a variety of camps in the area,
including the Peak Performance and Total Lacrosse Camps. Since
2003, she has been the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator as
well as the Director of Field Hockey and Lacrosse at Sportsworld,
an indoor sport facility in Connecticut.
In addition, Mullady founded Lax Plus Club, which is a club
program to prepare high school athletes from Western Massachusetts
and Hartford County for college lacrosse.
Springfield College finished last season with a 12-6 overall
record and advanced to the championship game of the New England
Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament, falling
one win shy of receiving an NCAA tournament berth.
