    HARTFORD, Conn.— Junior Abby McInerney (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) led all players with four goals and 10th-ranked Trinity College closed the first half with an eight-goal run on its way to defeating visiting Babson College, 16-5, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sundayafternoon at Sheppard Field.

    HARTFORD, Conn.—Senior Francesca Giovanucci (Easton, Mass.) and junior Charlotte O'Halloran (Middletown, R.I.) each scored four times and Babson College used a 12-goal run that spanned parts of both halves to defeat Johnson & Wales University, 17-8, in an NCAA Tournament First Round game on Saturday afternoon at Sheppard Field.

    BABSON PARK, Mass.—After claiming its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament championship since 2011, the Babson College women's lacrosse team will travel to Trinity College for the first and second rounds of the 2017 NCAA Division III Tournament. The Beavers will take on Johnson & Wales University next Saturday, with the winner set to face the host Bantams on Sunday afternoon.

    BOSTON, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2017 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference honorees and major award winners on Tuesday afternoon. After claiming the NEWMAC regular season title Springfield took home Athlete of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year accolades giving Shelby Corsano and goalkeeper Gabby Anderson the nods. Their coach, Kristin Mullady was voted the 2017 Coach of the Year while Wheaton's Molly Covarrubias earned the Rookie of the Year award.

Carroll scooped up four ground balls and caused five turnovers as Babson slipped past MIT in OT, 10-9, in its NEWMAC regular season finale on Wednesday night.

    -The Lead: No. 5 seeded MIT jumped out to an 11-2 lead and never looked back as it went on to defeat No. 4 Emerson College, 18-10, in the quarterfinals of the NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday afternoon. Senior Hannah Levy (Yardley, Pa.) generated four goals, becoming the Engineers' all-time career leader as she surpassed the previous mark of 185 set by Kira Schott '16.

    Shelby Corsano, a junior attacker for Springfield College, helped the Pride to a pair of wins last week with a total of nine points, including eight goals and one assist and five draw controls. Gabby Anderson, a senior goalkeeper for Springfield College, was dominant in a pair of wins for the Pride last week, as she made 16 saves and only gave up nine goals in two goals.
  • MIT, Springfield and Babson Claim NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    In a 2-0 week for MIT, Emily Young totaled 12 goals, 12 points, 10 draw controls, and four groundballs. Carroll scooped up seven ground balls and five caused turnovers in a 2-0 week for Babson. Ann Mahoney, a junior midfielder for Springfield College, was instrumental in a pair of wins for the Pride last week, as she collected 17 draw controls, eight ground balls, caused five turnovers and registered three points.
  • Wellesley's Persky and Peterson Sweep NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Wellesley sophomore Dacia Persky helped the Blue to a 3-0 record this week, including a pair of conference wins over Smith and MIT. Wellesley senior midfielder Courtney Peterson had a great two-way week for the Blue, registering a team-high nine caused turnovers and scooping up eight ground balls, while also scoring 15 points.
  • Emerson Duo of Weber and Haley Sweep NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Weber showed off her offensive talents with an impressive 13 points on the week, scoring 6 goals in back to back NEWMAC games and getting an assist against MHC. Despite it only being her second year playing Lacrosse, Paige Haley has already made a huge impact on the Lions.

    In a 2-1 week for MIT, Emily Young totaled 14 goals, five assists, 19 points, 11 draw controls, and six groundballs. In a 2-1 week for MIT, Eva Boal totaled 35 saves, 13 groundballs, and five caused turnovers.
  • Smith's Harris and Price Sweep NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    Harris led the Smith College lacrosse team to a 4-0 week totaling 16 goals,12 assists for 28 points while also adding seven ground balls and five caused turnovers. Smith goalkeeper Sarah Price went 4-0 and helped the Pioneers (6-1) to their best start in program history with her strong play in the net this week.
  • Coast Guard's Bradford and Emerson's Modica Claim NEWMAC Honors

    Bradford led the Coast Guard women's lacrosse team to a 1-0 week tallying four points with three goals and one assist while picking up four ground balls, two draw controls and forcing one turnover. The Lions played two tough games over Springbreak, and despite going 0-2 on the week, junior goalie Kristina Modica came to play making 30 combined saves in the two contests.

    O'Halloran scored once and dished out four assists for five points in Sunday's 10-9 loss at Skidmore. Drakeley scooped up four ground balls and caused two turnovers in Babson's 10-9 loss at Skidmore on Sunday afternoon.

    Shelby Corsano, a junior attack for Springfield College, was impressive in the Pride's season-opening win over Western New England on Saturday. Carroll was a major force on Saturday as she matched her career high with five caused turnovers and picked up four ground balls to help Babson defeat Bridgewater State, 14-3, in its season opener.

    BOSTON, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released the annual Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll on Wednesday morning. After claiming the programs sixth NEWMAC Championship title and an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance the Springfield Pride have been tabbed as preseason favorites for 2017 claiming six first place votes.
