Aug 2, 2007 Susan Grant Named Women's Soccer Head Coach at Coast Guard Susan Grant has been named head coach of the women's soccer team
at the United States Coast Guard Academy. She replaces Carla
DeSantis.
Grant, a 1995 graduate of the State University of
New York at Cortland with a degree in Physical Education, has a
wide variety of coaching experience, having coached women's soccer,
lacrosse and field hockey at several levels.
"We are excited about adding Susan Grant to our
coaching staff," said Dr. Ray Cieplik, Coast Guard Academy Director
of Athletics. "She has an excellent background in athletics, and we
expect her expertise in women's soccer and coaching to contribute
to the development of our cadet athletes in a significant way."
Grant was the lacrosse coach and assistant field
hockey coach at Pine Point School, in Stonington, during the Fall
of 2006 and prior to that she coached soccer, field hockey and
lacrosse at various levels in Upstate New York.
Susan, who played both soccer and basketball for
NCAA Division III power, State University of New York at Cortland,
also earned her Masters degree in Health Education from Cortland
State in 1998.
Grant will make her collegiate coaching debut as
the Bears host Lasell on August 31st at 4 p.m. The Bears were 4-13
overall and 0-9 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic
Conference (NEWMAC) last season.
