Dec 6, 2007 Women's Soccer Draws NSCAA Academic Honor for Seventh Straight Year NORTON, MA- The Wheaton College women's soccer program earned
the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team
Academic Award for the seventh consecutive season as one of 296
women's squads from all levels of the NCAA, NAIA and junior college
ranks to draw the honor for the 2006-07 academic year.
Each team will be honored at the 61st annual NSCAA convention on
January 16-20 in Baltimore. Wheaton, which was one of nine Division
III schools from New England to qualify, also succeeded on the
field, going 22-1-1 and appearing in an NCAA Tournament for the
eighth straight season.
Three Lyons who played a hand in Wheaton receiving the team
accolade were individually honored for academic success this fall.
Senior tri-captain Erin Davis (Easton, CT/Joel
Barlow) landed on the ESPN The Magazine Academic College
Division All-District I second team after receiving third-team
laurels each of the prior two years. Two players qualified for the
New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic
All-Conference team, as junior Jessie Landau (Pound Ridge,
NY/Fox Lane) drew her second honor and sophomore
Kathleen Carroll (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz Central)
nabbed her first.
