BABSON PARK, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic
Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2009 Women's Soccer post-season
award winners on Tuesday. Lauren Hernley
(Elizabethtown, Pa.) was named the conference's Athlete of the Year
after helping MIT capture the NEWMAC Tournament Championship on
Sunday. Wheaton's Cassey Muse
(Candia, N.H.) was selected as the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, as
the league's top newcomer. Tony Mohammed of
Wellesley was tabbed Coach of the Year while Coast Guard received
the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award.
Hernley was joined by Emily Kuo (Chicago, Ill.)
on the First Team All-Conference. Muse was one of Wheaton's four
First Team honorees, tops in the conference. Emily
Hough (Norwich, Vt.), Lyndsey McManus
(Marshfield, Mass.) and Alessia Vicomi (Newton,
Mass.) also received First Team accolades. Amy
Festa (Medfield, Mass) of Babson, Joanna
Clark (Windham, Maine) of Clark, Springfield junior
Courtney Price (Enfield, Conn.), Wellesley's
Chelsea-Ann Patry (Warrenton, Va.) and
Kristen Garza (Kingston, Mass.) from WPI rounded
out the First Team selections.
