BABSON PARK, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the seeds and pairings for the 2012 women's soccer tournament, after wrapping up regular season play on Saturday. Springfield College captured the top seed, thanks to an 8-1-0 record in league play. The Pride will host the semifinals and championship next weekend.
The second-seeded MIT (8-1-0) will receive a bye into the semifinals, along with Springfield. The Engineers will play the winner of the first round matchup between third seed Wheaton College (7-1-1) and sixth seed Wellesley College (4-5-0). Babson College (5-3-1) earned the tournament's fourth seed and will host Clark University (5-4-0) in the opening round, tentatively scheduled for Tuesday.
Semifinals will be played Saturday afternoon at Springfield with the championship game to follow on Sunday, November 4 at 1:00 p.m. The NEWMAC champion will receive an automatic bid into the upcoming NCAA Division III tournament.
