  • No. 13 MIT Sees NCAA Tournament Run End Against No. 10 Messiah In Sweet 16

    The Lead: The No. 13 MIT women's soccer team saw its historic season come to a close this afternoon in the NCAA Sectional Semifinals against No. 10 Messiah College, 5-0, at The College of New Jersey's Soccer Complex. MIT, which reached the Sectional Semifinals for the first time since 2012, ends the 2017 campaign with a record of 20-2-1, while Messiah moves on to face No. 1 TCNJ tomorrow afternoon in the Elite 8.

    The Lead: A goal by MIT sophomore Sophia Struckman (Scottsdale, Ariz.) in the 22nd minute was the difference today as the No. 13 Engineers defeated No. 17 Middlebury College, 1-0, in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament on Sunday afternoon in Cambridge.

    The Lead: Tied at 2-2 after 30 minutes of action, the No. 13 ranked MIT women's soccer team used five unanswered goals to defeat Castleton University by a 7-2 score on Saturday afternoon in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. 
  • NCAA Bound: MIT Selected to Host NCAA Regional This Weekend

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the second time in four years and for the second time in program history, MIT will be the host site for one of 16 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship regionals as announced on Monday afternoon. Scheduled for November 11-12, the nationally-ranked Engineers will welcome Castleton University, Middlebury College and Western Connecticut State University.

    WESTWOOD, Mass. – The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the Women’s Soccer All-Conference and Postseason Awards on Tuesday morning. Following a monumental season for the Engineers, capped off with a conference crown, MIT’s Olivia Struckman has been named the NEWMAC Athlete of the Year. Her teammate Hailey Nichols was voted the Defensive Player of the Year while Wheaton’s Hannah Lepordo earned Rookie of the Year accolades.

    The MIT women's soccer team, ranked No. 13 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division III poll and second in the latest NCAA Division III New England regional rankings, used goals by sophomore Emily Berzolla (Riverside, Conn.) and Montana Reilly (Los Angeles, Calif.) to win the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship for the first time since 2011.

    BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Victoria Penta (Belmont, Mass.) finished with a goal and an assist as the third-seeded Babson College women’s soccer team defeated sixth-seeded Clark University, 3-0, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament  quarterfinal on Tuesday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - After 110 minutes of scoreless play, the Springfield College women's soccer team and Wellesley College went to a penalty kick shootout, and the Pride prevailed 7-6 over the Blue on a brisk Tuesday evening at Brock-Affleck Field. The penalty kick shootout victory advanced the maroon and white to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship Semifinals, where it will take on top-seeded MIT at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning in Cambridge.
  • MIT's Struckman and Clark's Christy Take Home Weekly Honors

    MIT senior captain Olivia Struckman led the No. 13 Engineers to a 1-0-1 week scoring two goals including the game winner at Emerson in the season finale at Emerson on Saturday. Clark's Christy was critical in the Cougars 3-1 victory over Emerson during the week.
  • NEWMAC Reveals Women's Soccer Championship Bracket, MIT Claims No. 1 Seed

    WESTWOOD, Mass. – With the conclusion of the 2017 women's soccer regular season this evening, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released the 2017 NEWMAC Women's Soccer Championship bracket. The women's soccer championship consists of seven teams that will compete for the crown which will begin on Tuesday, October 31st with the quarterfinal round.
  • Babson Women’s Soccer Returns to Boston to Participate in CF Climb

  • MIT's Struckman and Wellesley's Reckley Claim NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Senior Olivia Struckman posted three goals and one assist for five points this week in a pair of NEWMAC wins against Babson (2-1 2OT) and Springfield (4-0). Wellesley sophomore Olivia Reckley posted back-to-back shutouts to help the Blue go 2-0-0 in NEWMAC games this week.
  • MIT's Apostol, Mount Holyoke's Manaster and Wheaton's Wolf Tab NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    Junior Amy Apostol scored the game winning goal in both of MIT's NEWMAC road victories this week which included a 5-0 win at Wellesley and a 2-1 win at Coast Guard. Manaster backstopped the Lyons to an 0-1-1 week in conference action, posting 25 stops and a goals against average of .92 on the week. Leann Wolf recorded a 0 goals against average and 16 saves in 180 minutes of work last week.

    Mackenzie Luiz, a sophomore forward for Springfield College, was outstanding in a pair of wins for the Pride last week. Beggan keyed a pair of strong defensive efforts as Babson went 1-0-1 last week to pick up four key points in league play.
  • MIT's Struckman and Mueller Sweep NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Senior Olivia Struckman led the No. 15 MIT women's soccer team to another great week as she posted a pair of goals. MIT junior keeper Lily Mueller improved to 10-0-0 in between the pipes for the No. 15-ranked Engineers.
  • Emerson's Frost and Coast Guard's Boohar Claim NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Lions junior Jess Frost came through in the clutch for the Emerson on Saturday, providing an assist on the opening tally of the match against Springfield. Junior Rachel Boohar helped the Bears to their first NEWMAC win of the season making four saves in a 1-0 victory over reigning NEWMAC champion WPI for her second shutout of the season.
  • Springfield's Coady and Boucher Sweep NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Mikaela Coady, a senior forward for Springfield College, had two goals in a pair of wins for the Pride this past week. Ciara Boucher, a senior goalkeeper for Springfield College, was outstanding in net for the Pride this past week, as the maroon and white picked up two shutout victories over No.12 Amherst College and Coast Guard in its NEWMAC opener.
  • Springfield's Quiles and Smith's Hall Claim NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    Kim Quiles, a senior forward for Springfield College, had an incredible week for the Pride as she registered six points on three goals. In a 2-0 week with victories over Mass-Dartmouth and Maine Maritime, senior goalkeeper Shelby Hall posted consecutive shutouts in net.
  • WPI's Gomarlo and MIT's Nichols, Nielan Claim Women's Soccer Weekly Awards

    Gomarlo posted a hat-trick and scored a pair of game-winners, while registering a perfect shooting percentage, in the Engineers opening weekend. In a 2-0 week that featured victories over No. 6 Brandeis University and Lesley University, junior defender Hailey Nichols registered the game winning goal and added her first assist of the season against the nationally-ranked Judges. In a 2-0 week that featured victories over No. 6 nationally-ranked Brandeis University and Lesley University, freshman Maya Nielan registered her first two goals of her collegiate career as a defender.
  • WPI Tabbed as Preseason Favorites in Women's Soccer Coaches' Poll

    WESTWOOD, Mass. – After competitive 2016 NEWMAC Women’s Soccer season last fall the conference is eager to see what these 11 teams will bring to the table this year. After claiming the programs first NEWMAC crown in program history last year WPI has been tabbed as the preseason favorite with five first place votes. The Engineers finished the regular season at 8-1-1 while they shared the Regular Season Champions honor with No. 2 MIT who earned three first places votes in the poll.
