MIT's Karina Pikhart Receives Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) named MIT senior Karina Pikhart the national recipient of the 2009 ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award. She is the first athlete in the program’s history to garner this national honor as Mealani Nakamura was the East Region finalist in 2000.

NEWMAC Teams Prepare for NCAA Tournaments
A number of New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) teams are preparing to begin post-season play in their respective NCAA Tournaments this week. The regional rounds for softball, women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s tennis kick off, starting with women’s lacrosse on Wednesday, May 6.

Smith's Christine Davis Receives USTA/ITA Campus Recreation Award
Smith College tennis coach, Christine Davis, is the New England region recipient of the USTA/ITA Campus Recreation Award. The award honors an ITA coach who has done an outstanding job implementing recreational tennis programs on campus in an effort to grow tennis participation.

NEWMAC Announces 2008 Women's Tennis Academic All-Conference Team
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2008 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

NEWMAC Announces 2008 Women’s Tennis Post-Season Award Winners
Regular season and tournament champion Wellesley College led the way with five First Team selections, along with the Rookie of the Year, Marie Watanabe. MIT junior Leslie Hansen was named Athlete of the Year and her coach, Carol Matsuzaki received Coach of the Year honors.
