MIT's Johnston and WPI's Tropeano Named Google Cloud Academic All-America Teams
June 04, 2019AUSTIN, Texas - On June 4th, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the Google Cloud Academic All-America Baseball teams. The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) saw two student-athletes represented, MIT's Matt Johnston earned Second Team honors while WPI's Ryan Tropeano garnered Third Team accolades. -

The championship is the third for MIT and the program's first since the Engineers won their second straight NEWMAC title in 2015. -

May 02, 2019- The Lead: Trailing 6-2 in the ninth, the MIT baseball team tied the game on a three-run homer by junior Matt Johnston (Portola Valley, Calif.) and won the game on an RBI single by sophomore Ethan Rolland (Burke, Va.) in the bottom of the 12th for a 7-6 victory over Springfield College. The No. 4 seeded Engineers now advance to the double-elimination portion of the tournament at top-seeded Wheaton College. -
