WESTWOOD, Mass. - Eleven baseball student-athletes from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) were named to the American Coaches Baseball Association (ACBA)/Rawlings NCAA Division III New England All-Region Teams for their incredible efforts this season.
Three student-athletes were selected to the First Team, as MIT outfielder Matt Johnson, WPI utility player David Larson and Clark pitcher Cal Slepkow picked up the honor.
Collecting Second Team accolades were the 2019 NEWMAC Player and Pitcher of the Year in Wheaton outfielder Jared Sharkey and Babson pitcher Michael Genaro, respectively. Wheaton catcher Nick Raposo and MIT pitcher Patrick Callahan were also selected to the Second Team.
Rounding out the awards on the Third Team were Coast Guard catcher Jeremy Lhotka, Springfield second basemen Mark Joao, Babson outfielder Jake Oliger and Wheaton pitcher Griffin Young.
The 2019 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year have been announced in all eight regions. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America Committee.
