NEWMAC Announces 2018 Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll, Babson Named Favorites

WESTWOOD, Mass - The New Engand Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2018 Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday morning. After a riveting 2017 NEWMAC Championship run, claiming the programs first crown since 2006, the Babson Beavers have been selected as the preseason favorites heading into 2018 with six first place votes. Voting for the preseason poll is conducted by the 10 softball coaches.

The 2017 Runner-Up Springfield and Regular Season Champions, WPI earned a share of the No. 2 slot each receiving two first place votes while No. 4 MIT, No. 5 Wellesley and No. 6 Wheaton follow. Rounding out the remaining four spots is No. 7 Coast Guard, No. 8 Smith, No. 9 Clark and No. 10 Emerson.

The 2018 season will welcome back 14 All-Conference honorees, 10 All-Region winners, 1 All-American in Springfield's Kirsten Drobiak who is also the returning Athlete of the Year while her teammate Talia Loda returns as the Pitcher of the Year and WPI's Mackenzie Phillips as the Rookie of the Year.
