NEWMAC Announces 2017-18 Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll

WESTWOOD, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the annual Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday morning. After an impressive 2016-17 season claiming the programs seventh NEWMAC crown in nine years Babson has been tabbed as the preseason favorites with five first place votes.

Close behind in the ranks with four first place votes is No. 2 MIT followed by No. 3 WPI and No. 4 Smith who received two first place votes. No. 5 Springfield, No. 6 Coast Guard, No. 7 Clark, No. 8 Emerson and No. 9 Wheaton, No. 10 Wellesley and No. 11 Mount Holyoke round out the remaining slots. 

The 2017-18 season should be an exciting one as the NEWMAC returners six All-Conference honorees, four All-Region award winners, and the Defensive Player of the Year, WPI's Ama Biney.
